Pre-K
The Pre-K Class at Oak Park Day School in Garland will help your child attain the skills he or she will need to know upon entering Kindergarten.
The Pre-Kindergarten Class is divided into two groups that are led by tenured Oak Park teachers. The day is organized in time blocks that incorporate reading time, learning centers, Spanish, music, creative play, recess, snack time, nap time, and special activities. This allows students to move between sedentary and action-based learning to keep bodies and minds stimulated.
In the Pre-Kindergarten Class, children review and learn to write their letters and numbers. They learn to draw pictures using common shapes and color following specific guidelines. Pre-K students will also learn math and science concepts that will prepare their minds for Kindergarten. Additionally, the children learn practical skills that promote:

– Circle Time: Flashcards (Red, Blue, Yellow, Green, White, Black, Brown, Gray, Purple, Pink, and Orange)
– Combining Primary Colors (examples: Yellow + Blue = Green, Red + Blue = Purple, Red + Yellow = Orange)

ENGLISH / LANGUAGE ARTS
– Finalize learning to identify letters and their sounds.
